St. Patricks Day

Six Six Crush played with the Abusers and the TC Howlers at Big V's. It was a bit of heaven for me on St. Patricks Day. I'm big into all bands and there was great people, lots of whiskey and rumpleminze and of course rocking out. The Howlers headlined the show and didn't disappoint. Great dancing to that band. Six Six Crush and the TC Howlers are going to be playing South Dakota together in April. Should be a great way to show SD how Minneapolis rocks!

Exene and the Original Sinners @ The Entry

3/14- I haven't checked the tour schedule but if you get a chance to check out Exene and the Original Sinners I would highly recommend it. The set wasn't the longest but the songs are great to rock out to and her voice still sounds awesome. Her backing band is pretty much all in the openers called the 7 Shot Screamers from St. Louis and they were a fun rockabilly/punk band with a lot of energy. Great to see both bands on the Entry stage. And I don't wants wrong with people, but there were very very few people there.

Koalas CD Release show

3/10 - Friday I hit the Koalas at the Entry for their CD release show. Wasn't interested in the opening bands so I didn't get there til late and hung out outside during Doomtree. But the Koalas as usual were smokin'. I picked up the CD and have been listening to it non stop since. So glad to finally get a recording of theirs.

Six Six Crush at the Nomad

Do I have to say anything? If you've read this site, you know I love this band. They rock hard, and last night was no exception. Thanks to the guys for another great show.

Triple Rock 3/3/06

Friday I hit the show at the Triple Rock.

Opening was Screaming Cyn Cyn and the Pons from Madison. I really like this band. Lots of energy, fun songs and just an overall rocking guitar sound. Up second was Mute Era. First time I'd seen these guys and I very much enjoyed the set. A guitar drum duo that in my opinion was a bit more noise punk. In the final song the singer/guitarist recorded an array of backround vocals and songs right on stage. Was very cool.

Ouija Radio was next. I've been getting into this band more and more lately. Strong guitar sound, bass player is extremely fun and the drumming is as tight as can be. Always something I can bob my head to. Finally was zZz from Amsterdam. They're a keyboard and drums duo that I liked live a lot more than I thought I would. It was definitely music you can dance to which worked for the state I was in at that point.

EGFC and the Abusers @ Big V's 2/23

EGFC took the place of Degeneration

Abusers/EGFC show was a great time. Scabs were pretty decent as well. Always fun to see the snow suits and Hamm's beer hats that make up the Abusers. Was very glad I got to see EGFC. You know the show was not planned when they had me picking out songs for them to play. And I also hope there are no pictures of me doing the rock and roll pose with the bass player. Yikes.

Undertow Orchestra @ First Ave 2/19

I'm enamored with Vic Chesnutt and the fact that they closed with one of his tunes made me the happiest I could be at that show. He played the song 'Iraq' which I adore. Honestly I liked it better when it was just he and guitar at the Turf, but the song still sounded wonderful tonight. And I will same I don't have the hugest knowledge of Mark Eitzel and AMC, but I really dig his voice and his songs had a very good range which I enjoyed immensly. Also the songs of Will Johnson really make me want to check out Centro-Matic. I've noticed that I missed quite a few shows over the last year or so but hopefully can catch them next time.
